EASTER SEALS - FOUNDATION SPONSOR

When Sean and Sue Flanagan sought an organization at which they could establish and endowment to help assure that the proceeds of their annual Friendship Cup golf event would benefit Deaf and hard of hearing children for a lifetime, they turned to Easter Seals.

Sean, through his association with Bayer Consumer Care, has had a relationship with Easter Seals for years. Bayer has supported the organization for decades, and Sean, through his role as Bayer's team leader for CVS/pharmacy, has been working with Easter Seals for nearly 10 years.

The Flanagan's plan to contribute a gift of $20,000 annually to the Endowment Fund for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children at Easter Seals national headquarters from Friendship Cup proceeds. The fund will grow as Sean and Sue work with Easter Seals to meet their future goals for its existence: to provide leadership and employment opportunities to Deaf and Hard of Hearing youth so that they can realize their dreams in achieving success and independence in their lives.

About Easter Seals:

From young children with hearing impairments to older adults with Alzheimer's, Easter Seals' myriad of service offerings help more that 1.3 million individuals and families living with disabilities each year. For 85 years, Easter Seals has been providing greater independence to people with disabilities in hundreds of communities across the country..

Edgar "Daddy" Allen founded Easter Seals in 1919, then known as the National Society for Crippled Children - after inadequate medical facilities in his hometown of Elyria, Ohio, failed to save his son following a streetcar accident. Inspired to make a change, Allen sold his business and began raising funds for the building of a new hospital. Through this new hospital, Allen was surprised to learn that children with disabilities were often hidden from public view. This discovery motivated him to establish the organization know today as Easter Seals. And the rest…is history.

Today, Easter Seals has grown into the nation's leading provider of disability services - providing medical rehabilitation, job training and employment, child care, adult day services, and camping and recreation through a network of 550 local service centers. Easter Seals has brought Edgar Allen's early vision to life, and continues to do so, making a real difference for people living with disabilities everyday. For more, visit www.easterseals.com.
